Pieced Pets

April 15, 2016 By Ann

I’ve had pets all my life — usually dogs, but often goldfish or pet mice or the occasional turtle would join our family.  All were lovingly welcomed.    It only seems fitting, then, to create patterns that celebrate these special members of our households.    Dogs and cats are featured–  but you’ll find other critters, exotic and otherwise!      These patterns are available through Fiddle Sticks Quilt Shop   (360) 718-7103

BoxerHR

Boxer — I love his floppy ears and adorable dark patch of fir around his eye.   Making of whitish dog with dark spots can be a challenge.  The “white” fabrics are all light with some small pattern in a contrasting color.  I particularly like the white and blue plain for his ear.   I also chose blues and purples for his other ear and dark  spot……it is a quilt afterall.   And what better choice of background than bright orange dots, it reminds me of this cute guy’s love of playing fetch.   (22″ x 18″, 2016)

labfine

Labrador — Labs are great family pets — yellow, black, chocolate —  I love them all!!   To keep it fair, I made my lab in blues.  Love the striped fabric that shows the folds in his ears!!    (23″ x 18″, 2016)

yorkiefine

Yorkshire Terrier —  Yorkies are petite, lively and adorable!  They have such expressive faces and the cutest fur!   (19″ x 18″, 2016)

For students looking for a fine instructor for the Ruth B. McDowell style of quilt design, I strongly recommend Ann P. Shaw's classes.
