Max and the Quilt

September 16, 2012 By Ann

This is Max.  Max loves quilts.   He loves to cuddle on quilts and to nap on quilts.  Apparently quilts are also tasty, since this one suddenly acquired holes.   Poor Max, it made him sad.

Sometimes you can love a quilt too much.

Fortunately, a little extra fabric and some additional stitching can make in all better.

Ta-da!  All better.   Somehow it seemed only fair to leave a little bit of Max’s love in the quilt.  Look closely and you’ll see two sewn circles — stitching on the back that I’ve purposefully allowed to show through to the front of the quilt.

Repairing the back gave me pause (paws?).   The back was a single piece of a beautiful batik and there was no more of this fabric in left my stash.   What to do?     A reverse applique patch will work just fine,  but how do I hide the patch?

Ah, perfect.  No one will ever know.

For students looking for a fine instructor for the Ruth B. McDowell style of quilt design, I strongly recommend Ann P. Shaw's classes.
