A central focus on my quilt style is the use of unusual combinations of patterned fabrics. My stash contains all sorts of interesting fabrics — all 100% cotton, but each with a distinctive look. Learning how to use these fabrics in both pictorial and abstract quilt designs is an interesting challenge. For many years I’ve played around with fabric and experimented with the ways in which patterned fabrics impact the look of a quilt. I’ve distilled some basic ideas about the design elements in printed fabrics and how to think about how these elements interact. The overall visual impact is often influenced by unexpected fabric choices.
My BEYOND COLOR: DESIGNING WITH PRINTED FABRIC workshop explores these ideas. I’ll discuss the basic elements of printed fabrics, how I think about fabric selections, and how unusual fabric combinations bring life to your quilt designs. This is a great opportunity broadened your horizons and think about fabric in a whole new way. Join me!
