Ann offers a variety of multi-day quilting workshops and retreats for Quilting Events and Guilds
The workshops include:
Designing from Nature: This 4 or 5 day design workshop focuses on translating photographs into pieced quilt designs and then focuses on the use of patterned fabrics in unusual combinations to produced lively, visually interesting quilts.
Photo/Design/Quilt: This 4 or 5 day workshop begins with the principles of photographic composition as they relate to quilt designs. We look at photographic subjects from the standpoint of line and shape, both taking digital photos in class and looking at photos brought to class by each student. The concept of “Gesture” in composition is explored in relation to the designing process. Then choosing from among their photographs, students develop a pieced quilt design and work on fabric selections to bring their original quilt design to life.
Quilt Design Basics, Leaf: This 2 day workshop introduces students to developing an original pieced quilt design. Starting from leaves, we explore the elements of straight line and curved line designs, and consider the ways in which detailed piecing and fabric selections each contribute to the overall look of a quilt.
Artisan Workshop: Ann’s “Artisan Collection” features patterns for experienced quilters that included curved seams and more detailed piecing. Ann hosts 2 or 3 day retreats that focus on these patterns, allowing quilters time to enhance their skills and artist “eye”.
